I can smell death

The end is near my friends. I can smell death, and I can taste the end of a playoff era. I try to keep my swagger and arrogance, but lets be realistic. This team is playing with as much energy as John Daly in church. Yes, the injuries have been devastating, and probably can be the single reason why they are where they are. Wang, Chamberlain, Posada, Hughes, Matsui, Kennedy, ARod, and Damon all were out. That is a huge list of key players, but what about Cano or Melky. They SUCK this year. I wish Cano would have a little spring in his step. And if Melky can’t catch balls, he is useless.

So I am going to sit back and stew in my own misery watching the Red Sox win, while the Yanks continue this train wreck.

PS. I think Girardi is doing a very good job. No way you can ping any of this on him. Yeah, some questionable moves here and there, but overall I would give him a high mark for this year.

PSS. If the Yankees some how manage to come back and take over the wild card or the division with some miraculous comeback, ignore anything I wrote between “the end is near…” and “…PSS”.

Goodbye sweet playoffs

Johnny Damon

I have it from a reliable source that after yesterday's afternoon game (and loss), Johnny Damon took a private jet to the Hamptons. The plane, per his request, had Corona and Jack Daniels.

Buchholz throws to first

I turned the TV on for a couple of minutes today to watch the game, and Konerko just got on first base, with no one on second. Now, Konerko is probably slower than I am running around the bases, but I guess he could steal a base. After all, he has 6 career stolen bases. But Konerko was on first base, physically standing on the bag, when Buchholz threw to Casey playing first, like they do when a guy is taking a big lead. "What the hell is he doing?" I thought. Even Casey and Konerko laughed. Then he did it AGAIN. At that point, Konerko kind of raised his hands to Buchholz to say "are you drunk? do you see me with my feat ON the bag". Strange.

Manny move good for Yanks fans

Good point in the NY Post about being a Yankee killer. I am still giddy over this move.

Carl Pavano pitching for the Yankees?

I forgot to post this. Last Sunday night I sat down to watch the Red Sox Yankees play in Fenway. It was an ESPN game. And they put up the fielders for the Yankees and I was surprised to see Pavano was pitching. I guess for 11 mil, he should be pitching, but I assume since Ponson was actually pitching, an intern at ESPN had a typo.

About time he pitches
