Newark Airport

I like New Jersey. I really do. I have friends who live in nice houses in nice towns in the state. Traffic might be tough but getting around is easy enough. There are a lot of Yankee fans. The Sopranos is set there. But Newark Airport is awful. Terrible. I have had the pain of going to Newark twice in the last week and it was about as bad as it gets. I have seen soccer riots that were better organized. It was like security and the gates were suddenly bombarded with 3 times as many people as they were expecting. It was incredible. Total chaos, shifting gates, all flights delayed, handing out boarding passes to the wrong people. My 5:30 flight last night left at 8. There were about 12 people who had duplicate seats, me being one of them. The security line to get to the gate looked like elementary kids lining up to play dodge ball. There was a loose structure around what was going on but for the most part it was an organized free-for-all. I have no idea how the gate agents deal with that mess day after day. It might not happen all the time but both times I have been there over the last week both times were equally as bad. I feel bad for my colleagues who do it every week like Andrew. I usually go to NY where the Delta Shuttle is as good as it gets. But flying on Continental to Newark is about as much fun as coughing up blood.

Just thought I'd share.

Dave,

2 words for you: Spring Break. Traveling was like that everywhere last week.
