Another Season Over
Short comment today. I need some time. Ugly. Just ugly.
This season has been so frustrating. Starting with the pitching failures of Kevin Brown (I am still pissed about game 7 last year), Wright and Pavano. Plus the spotty pitching of Mussina and Johnson. And just the overall season was frustrating. Long winning streaks, long losing streaks. The playoffs were just more of the same.
I know the Red Sox lost three in a row but the way the Yankees went out was not much better. And while the Yanks won the AL East title, they ended with the same record. To me, this season was a huge disappointment and a huge failure. Couple of points.
- Good job to Randy Johnson, the big failure, for his performance Friday night. I know he did good last night but the damage was done. Playing game 5 in LA was not what we wanted.
- Mussina sucks. I know he only had one hard hit ball last night but it just seems like he cannot put it away when it is needed. He did pitch a good game one though.
- ARod, you might win the MVP of the regular season, but I could care less about that. You are suppose to be the big stud and you tanked in the playoffs. We needed you to hit great during the season, but needed you to hit clutch even more in the playoffs. You laid an egg.
- Same goes for Sheff and Matsui. Good job during the year, nothing can take that away, but you were needed the past week and nada.
What I really found annoying was that I think the Yankees overall played better than the Angels. But what counts is the final score.
On a positive side, it was a very exciting year. The Yankees had to overcome challenges like no other team, at least no other team with a 200 million dollar payroll who paid way to much for way to little. But they kept things interesting, I have to say that much.
This is all I can write right now. I am disappointed and tired. I hope the White Sox win because they are a fun team to watch. And I hope some major changes take place because each season seems to be getting worse.
