In a pickle
Ok Yankee fans, its time I came out of my self imposed hibernation. We’re in a bit of a pickle. It might seem bad but pitching wins games and remember last year? Remember? The freakin pitching broken bones and we made the playoffs. Well, this year its just on the other end of the team. Sheff will hopefully be back and he is the key. Having Matsui gone hurts, a lot, on both offense and defence, but remember the other guys? Giambi, ARod and Jeter. Or Damon. Canu. Remember those guys? It’s a crazy line up even without Sheffield and Matsui.
Now, with that said, it sucks. Especially with Boston having won 2 out of 3 but for those in Red Sox Nation, don’t order your division winner hats just yet. You forget that you have your own problems. You talk about how great your starting pitching is. Your two studs have been throwing like my 67 year old neighbor playing toss with his dog. And while DiNardo might win a game or two, do you really feel good with him on the mound. I’ll admit that Papelbon is the real deal. He is the type of guy I would love to have on my team. Young, fearless, throws heat, doesn’t throw a lot of strike outs, no real emotion, doesn’t take his sweet ass time on the mound and slow things to a crawl. But for every Timlin you have a Seanez and Tavarez. For every slumping Ortiz you have a Loretta and Cora. And I would love to hear Red Sox morons right now. “How bad was Loretta LAST NIGHT.” Oh for crying out loud, it was one freakin game. Do you really feel that good with your team. No, I didn’t think so.
Look, this is a long season and I have faith in the Yankees. As long as Sheffield comes back healthy.
