New York as a Yankee Fan
I'm in NY for the Easter weekend and when I went to the store this morning to get the greatest newspaper in the world, Newsday, as well as the other two tabloids, NY Post and the Daily News, I was wearing my Yankees cap and didn't get nasty looks. To be honest, I never wear Yankee stuff in the Boston area because most fans are drunk, stupid, or both, and start with me. Even the nice fans have some snide comment. But when in NY I can put on anything with the interlocking N Y and no issues.
I also forgot how good WFAN is. I don't think its anywhere near as fun to listen to as WEEI, but its great.
I watched the Yankee game today on a large screen TV on the YES network, not on my 15 inches choppy laptop screen like usual. And guess what? Freakin AROD hit a game winning, walk off 2 out 2 strike grand freakin slam home run. It's the season of love for AROD, I can tell.
Too bad I couldn't watch Wakefield pitch yesterday. What a dramatic drop from Dice-K one day, with all the hype and expectations and millions watching someone who could be one of the worlds best pitchers, to a guy who's been with the Sox for 15 years and is fairly predictable. I actually like Wakefield, not sure why, but he seems like a normal guy.
Good stuff, being a Yankee fan, good stuff.
