Opening Day 2007 - Results

Red Sox lose 7-1. Yankees win 9-5.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but let me be honest for a sec. If the Yankees got beat up and the Sox won, I would have said that today was 1/162nd of the season. I would have said that it means as much as any other game and its only the first day of the season. But that is not what happened. Schilling and the pitchers that followed got beat up. No one hit when needed. And the Yanks, who I watched on my laptop while at work, played very well. Pavano wasn't lights out but he was good enough.

So after the game I was listening to Mike Adams on EEI and some moron actually called in and said "We are one game behind the Yankees and NY doesn't get going until May or June so we need to stop this before we slip farther behind".

I'm not joking. Idiots called in to complain about letting Schill be the opening day starter. WEEI is going to be fun for the next two days. A LOT of fun.

What a freakin bunch of losers.

PS. Did I mention I think this will be the year of Love for ARod. I think the fans will start to lighten up on this guy and give him a break, cheer him and give him some slack when he doesn't do well. And once again I was proven wrong when they boo-ed him today after he dropped a foul pop-up and struck out.

PSS. Thank G*d the season has started. I missed baseball. Holy love of Hazel Mae, did you see the Yankees line-up. Middle relief is actually ok. Rivera closing out games. It could be a good season if the starting rotation stays healthy.
