Lesson about hitting against Joba Chamberlain in his second inning.
DUCK!
So let me get this straight. Youkilis on second. Ball hit to Arod while Youk is running. Youk runs on to the grass and he is...oh wait, they called him out. Good call blue. It was the right call. I was getting all set to argue.
Now I wonder if Kevin and Terry will feel like idiots for going nuts when they called him out, because last time I checked, you are not allowed to run near the pitchers mound to avoid a tag. But what do I know, I'm not a professional athlete.
You know what really burns my ass about professoinal baseball games. When the batter hits a foul ball that doesn't leave the park, and the uniformed kid by first or third base picks it up, they toss it to some rich kid sitting in those sweet seats right near the field. So the kid of a lawyer or banker gets free MLB balls all day long while the child of some hard working cop or construction worker sitting in the bleachers gets a sun burn.
My proposal is to keep those balls on the side, and during the game have a team rep walk around to different parts of the ball park and hand them out to any kid NOT sitting in 200 dollar seats.
Just my opinion.
Thank G*d for Andy Pettitte. I was driving in the NYC area around game time...in fact, I was driving right by Yankee stadium around 6PM, and heard Terry Francona on 660 doing his pregame interview. I keep saying this, but I like Terry Francona. He sounds like a goober, but he is direct and honest.
As for the game tonight, I had to head out to a local bar to watch the game. It was nice to be among the faithful, especially since the Yanks won. Pettitte was freakin great. Chamberlain was good but I am suspect about him. For the most part, he has been pitching in games that mean nothing. He is lights out, but in games where the Yanks are way up or way down. But tonight he was hitting 100 on the gun and got out of putting two men on base. Rivera scares me but had a great 9th.
My vote for Yankee MVP...JD Drew. Love the stick my friend, love the stick.
Reporting live from the NY area...Red Sox Hater.
The Yanks limp into a 3 game series against the Red Sox having lost 3 of 4 to the Tigers and on the heels of Mussina getting pounded in 3 innings. Mussina belongs in the bullpen, the Kansas City bullpen. Bad bad bad Mike, BAD.
This past weekend the White Sox were beat like an Iraqi prisoner. It was terrible. I refused to listen to the radio today, or even look at the effing paper. The White Sox should BE EMBARRASED with how things went this weekend. They gave up on Friday morning it was so bad. Nothing against the Red Sox, they have good hitters and good pitching (I just threw up in my mouth for saying that), but no team in the American League, or MLB, should ever get beat 46 runs to SEVEN. It was pathetic and dropped the Yankees another 2 and a half games behind the Red Sox. PATHETIC they should give back their World Series trophy it was THAT bad.

More Sox fans on the road than Yankee fans...PUHLEEAASSE.
So I woke up this morning in a hotel in NY City, I shuffled to the door and got my USA Today, and guess what was on the front cover? Apparently the same crap that was on the cover of the Boston Globe this morning. Nonsense about Red Sox fans cropping up in other cities. It was in THIS article.
According to the piece, the Red Sox have more fans at away games than any other team, a position that is usually held by my beloved Yankees. Couple of things.
1 - How do they know? Do they count the people in the stands who are wearing crap for the other team? What if it's a Cleveland game against the White Sox and someone is wearing a Red Sox or Yankee cap? What then Mr I like to throw out numbers?
2 - The Yankees have been successful since 1918. They have built the most successful sports team in the history of sports over the last 100 years. They run the organization in a way that people admire. THAT is why they are popular.
3 - The Red Sox have become popular because of what is known as Pink Hats. Fans who have jumped on the bandwagon over the last couple of years because they have been successful and are the popular team to root for. People like my friend Jay and my friend Barry. Once they start to suck again, and trust me, that time will come, then people will crawl back under the rock from whence they came.
4 - I like Terry Francona. I'll admit it. So when the USA Today article started off with a story of how he responded to some idiot fans in a hotel, my love for him grew.
The story goes like this...
"One of them told me I took (pitcher Daisuke) Matsuzaka out of the game too early," Francona says. In no mood to debate baseball strategy with strangers, he said nothing.
"Then the other guy said, 'So, what are you going to do tonight?' " Francona recalls. "I said, 'Get away from you as quick as I can.' "
Hahaha, I love it. Only it would have been better if, after the fan said what are you going to do tonight, Francona said "Hunt you down and get blood on my pocket knife."
I haven't read the Globe story yet, I need to get good and drunk before stomaching any more The Red Sox Are Great nonsense, but I'll read it. Then out with the trash tomorrow for that paper.
So great. Good for them. They are popular on the road. I would like to see how many members there are in Loser Nation after the Sox have a couple of years of wrapping up the bottom of the American League.
Uhmm...who is this guy?

Dear Mr Gagne,
You are me new best friend. I love you. Please keep up the good work, you are my hero.
BFF,
David
Why is it than when teams come in to Fenway, their relievers and closers suddenly become worthless softball pitchers. Ugh. WHY???? Just close OUT THE EFFING GAME YOU LOSERS. All I need is some support from you and the Yankees would be right back in this thing. WHY??
I can't do it any more. I'm going back to rooting for the Yankees. Since most Red Sox fans have a 4th grade education, they probably missed my sarcasms, but for the last couple of months I decided to root for the Red Sox.
Well, it's over. I'm done. Finished. It never felt right. It felt...unholy...unclean...wrong. It never made sense to me. Narrow minded, cornered, biased opinionated one sided view of the Sox. I felt foolish rooting for them. I image it is what the fenians felt like when they were part of the British army in the late 1800s.
So now I'm back and just in time I think. The Yanks are in a little bit of a slide. I watched the Yanks game last night in NY and it was painful. Detroit beating up on Mussina. But that's ok, we'll be fine, the hitting will keep us in it until the end and then by some grace of God the Yanks will make it. remember, Joe Torre's sister is a nun, the Yanks have an inside connection.
One thing that I am seeing more of that bugs me are ads during the radio broadcast. I'm sure its the same in NY but I pretty much only have EEI or 680 as a reference point. But there is so much advertising that I don't know where the line is anymore. Used to be that when the broadcasters cut to a commercial, I knew it. But now they bring up commercials all the time. Something like this
"The pitch to Ortiz...low and away...brings David to 2 and 1 on the count...that outside pitch brought to you by hairclub for men, when you need to fill in the blank spots and look younger, remember hairclub for men."
Ok, I am going to switch back to being a Yankee fan for a sec. So someone tell me, what the f**k is wrong with Mariano Rivera. The Yankees tie the game in the 9th today, and he gives up THREE EFFING RUNS in the top of the tenth. This on top of a couple of lousy performances recently. On Monday he gave up 3 hits and blew the save altough the Yanks won it in the bottom of the inning. And the game before he gave up three hits and an earned run. What the f**k?
How does this guy continue to win games? It amazes me because its so painful to watch and the ball looks like it's going 20 miles an hour. Just amazing.
No more Money Store commercials.
Sorry to the 4 people who take time to read this stupid blog, I’ve been on vacation and a west coast business trip so I have not been writing. It’s too bad because I’ve been out of the Boston area during a pretty good time, if I were a Yankees fan, which I am not.
So to remind you, I switched to rooting for the Red Sox because I came to my senses, gained a lot of weight, stopped dressing well, started drinking more and suddenly curse at random people, all of which make me a good Sox fan.
Here is my most recent rant.
Yankees SUCK!! I hate the Yankees. Hate hate hate. I freakin hate the Yankees. Filled with hate and rage. We was 14 games in front in May and look at things now, 4 games. Pathetic. Not that I am worried mind you because the Yankees SUCK. They beat up on terrible teams like Toronto and Cleveland. I hate them so much. I feast at the all you can eat Hate Buffet and have an extra helping of mashed Yankees, garlic of course. Then I go back to my table at the Red Sox Diner and order a Hater on the rocks, make it a double. When I fly, I buy a Hate seat but often upgrade to Rage. I ride the Hate lane on the highway. I hate the Yankees a bunch of over paid losers.
By the way, IF I were a Yankee fan, and I’m not saying I am, but IF, and only IF, then Eric Gagne would be my new best friend. I love Eric more than Claudia Schiffer when I was 20. Eric is my new bestest friend, like Keith Foulke. And what the f**k is Tito thinking?? Jesus, the Orioles??
So now I am back in Loser, I mean Red Sox, Nation, and ready to get back on the Loser, I mean Red Sox, train. Toot toot, here we go, looking forward to the last 6 weeks of the season.
I've been missing lately. I have been away for the past couple of weeks, in Minnesota, San Fran and then upstate NY. It hard because I can't get a sense for how things are in Boston but I don't think it's good. No need to worry my friends, the Boston Globe today, online, reminded me that the Yankees still do suck and that they have been beating up on weak teams. So from here on out, its again a steady climb to 14 games in front.
