My Next Movie

As I have mentioned in the past, I love zombie movies. Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Sean of the Dead, I don’t care how bad it is or what number remake it is, if it has the walking dead, I’ll watch it. So earlier today I was playing with Ethan, my 14 month old son and I was lying on the ground as he walked around and occasionally came over to give me a hug and kiss. He gets his affectionate side from his mother. Anyway, as almost all one year olds do, he is not totally coordinated when he walks. He kind of stumbles around, falls over easily, gets right back up, and never ever looks where he is walking. And as I lay there, for some reason the lights in the room off and the hall light on, it reminded me of a zombie movie. He was kind of making a grunting sound which he does all the time, typical guy, and the combination of his walk, the lighting, his arms stretched out, a fat lip he got recently after a tumble, his messed up hair, clothes that had three meals plastered on them, drool forming around his mouth and those grunts, I thought he would make a perfect un-dead. So I thought of a room full of these zombie toddlers, or a street full of them, or a gym full, or an airport, mall, stadium, hospital or school. So my next full feature movie is going to be called “Daycare of the Dead”. I have to really think through the story though. Since it will be mostly about little kids but has a dead theme, it won’t be the type of rainy and cold fall Saturday afternoon movie parents take their kids to. And because of the kids in it, young couples out on a date won’t see it. And if I make it a horror flick with dead kids walking around, people will hate me for making a movie about un-dead kids. So I have to think it through. Maybe a black comedy with a Sixth Sense twist at the end. Or a love story. Not sure.

So there it is. Daycare of the Dead. The next in line of the George Romero knock-offs.
