Circus

My friend called during the week and told me he read the Big Apple Circus was in town. He asked if I wanted to take Emily and he would take his oldest girl, the same age as Emily (exactly the same age, birthdays are both May 2). So we went.

We took the subway in to make it more of an adventure. The circus was under a tent at Government Center and was at 4:30 in the afternoon so the timing was perfect. After the circus we went to Fanuel Hall for hot dogs. Then the subway back home.

Emily was on top of it the entire time. She was paying attention and after each event she clapped like she just watched someone save a busload of kids. It was fun to watch her have a good time.

When I got home I walked in the house and noticed some of our friends there, at like 8 at night. I said "what are you doing here?" I turns out Patti threw me a surprise birthday party (May 2, just like Emily) and invited friends from the neighborhood, no kids. Plus no gifts which is fine with me because it makes me a little uncomfortable getting birthday gifts from friends. Great and thoughtful idea from Patti.

The entire day was a good time, especially the surprise party and watching Emily's fascinated facial expressions at the circus.
