Don Orsillow - Yankee Injuries

Last night I was watching the game and Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo (who doesn’t hold a candle to Sean McDonough but got the full time job because McDonough wouldn’t stop being critical of the Red Sox) started talking about the Yankee injuries. They showed a stupid click of big mouth Schilling saying “we have injuries too, we have injuries…as well”.

Don, or maybe it was Jerry, said “the Sox have a lot of injuries too. The only difference is that the Sox are playing through them.”

What??? Huh??? So, (and I assume it was Don because he is the a-hole out of the two) Don, let me get this straight. Matsui should go out there with a freakin cast on his hand? Sheffield is having SURGERY on his wrist. Jeter DID play through it but realized that the Yankees, depleted, could beat the Sox without him. And what about Damon, Rivera and Posada? They are sitting on the bench?? No, you idiot, they are playing.

And playing through it? Timlin is in the DL. So is Free Wily. Coco just got off the DL. Wells is most certainly not playing through his injury. Riske was on the DL. Faulke isn’t playing. Manny was sore and is playing, good for him. I think some other player has a sore shoulder, so good for him too.

Look Donny, I like you. You call a mediocre game that bores me just enough that I don’t get overly excited. If Jerry wasn’t in the booth with you it would be about as much fun as listening to NPR talk about the Telco environment in China but you kissed the right ass to get McDonough out of the NESN box. But to suggest that the Yankees are milking their injuries and NOT playing through the pain while your beloved Sox are playing with injuries, you are starting to tread on dangerous ground. This one sided close mindedness is expected with Loser Nation, it’s what being a Sox fan and hard core democrat is all about. It’s your thing. It’s your shtick. But you, as a “professional” and I use that word very very liberally, should be a little more objective. Peter Gammons is a Sox fan but is fair when talking about both teams. You are no McDonough but stop kissing John Henry’s ass so much.

DO NOT get on my bad side Orsillo, let this be your last warning.

- Dave
