Yanks Sox Game June 5 2006
I almost had a multi media overload tonight. I was able to watch the game on two TV channels (ESPN, NESN), on the web (Yankees broadcast through MLB.com) and the radio (WEEI). When the beating began I actually started switching between the 4 choices. Obviously the difference is in the commentators since the cameras are the same.
I found that I didn’t like the local TV broadcast because, even though Rem Dog is one of the best in the business and should be a national broadcaster, they are too Red Sox centric. Like they should, they favor the local team and it shows.
I like the net but it is a few seconds behind regular TV and while I have a nice laptop, the screen is nowhere near as good as my 100 inch plasma HD mounted on my enormous wall in my mansion. So that is out.
The radio has never worked for me when I have a clear cut choice of watching TV. I love listening to WEEI and actually find listening on the radio better than watching on TV, but when I have a TV in front of me I have to watch it. It’s like something hard wired. If I am in the yard doing work or painting the fence or driving in the car, the radio is perfect. But sitting in my living room I feel weird with the TV off and the radio on. And the radio is ahead of the TV by a few seconds so they are calling the play before it happens on TV so I can’t keep the TV on with the sound off and the radio on. Doesn’t work.
So that leaves me with my choice of ESPN. I hate Joe Morgan, more than I hate evil. He should not only be fired but sent adrift. It’s a long story but I have a theory why he doesn’t like the Yankees. But he is not doing the game tonight so I can watch it. In fact, when the Red Sox had a strange play that allowed the Yankees to score their first run, I quickly switched between ESPN and NESN (49, 51) and listened to what they had to say and felt better with ESPN. So I stayed with them. They are my friends tonight.
As for the game, nice job Red Sox Nation. Impressive. The Yankees are without Jeter, Matsui and Sheffield tonight. Giambi and ARod are not 100% with a flu or something. Giambi probably got a bad dose of juice and ARod must have swallowed some of that lip gloss he wears. Rivera is hurt. Posado and Damon are hurt. And getting beat like an Iraqi prisoner is how you respond. Loser nation is alive and well. If the Sox win games 2-4 then I take back everything I just said.
‘Nite little campers.
