Yanks take 2 out of 3
Ok, so I am glad the Yanks won two out of three. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good thing. But the way in which it was done didn’t exactly get me going. Friday night Pettitte got beat up and the Yanks played sloppy defense. But the Sox bullpen imploded, which would have me worried in the post season, so all was good. Saturday Wang got hit hard and the Yanks lost. Last night was a great freakin game and went down to the wire with Rivera and Ortiz in a bases loaded situation. But good things happened and the Yanks won. Mientkiewicz played great in his first game back from the DL. I was at the Yankee-Red Sox game where Lowell took out Doug Manishevitz while running to first base. Lowell then took out Cano running to second base. And if you remember, Lowell then ran to the Yankee dugout and tried to take out ARod during the 7th inning stretch.
Anyway, good series but not great. I feel good about the Yankees because despite Pettitte and Wang not having a good series, they still won 2 out of 3. Now on to Baltimore while the Sox play Toronto.
12 games left. Getting tight.
Couple of other thoughts.
Jeter is freakin clutch. Seriously. I know Loser Nation thinks Ortiz is the only guy to win games, but Jeter came through in a great pitched game by Schill.
Hinske's hit on Posada was totally clean and legal. Nothing wrong there despite Jorge getting his bell run. Good job holding on to the baseball.
Rivera scares me every time he gets the ball. But he still gets the save.
I really want to make fun of Varitek for his hitting problems. But poor guy has to talk to the pitchers after the inning even though he might have to bat. Boo hoo hoo. So does EVERY OTHER FREAKIN CATCHER IN THE GAME.
Is it me or is Francona on edge lately. It seems even the simplest questions set him off.
Why didn't Clay Buchholz pitch this weekend?
