Abreu is coming back, some Red Sox moves
Yanks picked up Abreu's option for 2008, paying him 16 mil for right field next year.
Read about it here.
Not a bad move, I like Abreau and while 16 mil is a lot, he is definitely not worth that much, he is not far off. If he didn't get off to a slow start this past year, he would have had great numbers.
With the Sox, they exercised their option on Wakefield (4 mil) and Tavarez (3.85 mil). It's kind of weird, that Wakefield who won 17 games is getting paid just a little more than Tavarez who is one step up from useless.
Even most odd is not picking up Kevin Cash and going with no one (at least for now) who can catch the knuckleball pitcher they just signed.
